Song Lyrics

"Me, Myself & I"

All the ladies if you feel me, help me sing it out...

I can't believe I believed
Everything we had would last
So young and naive for me to think
She was from your past
Silly of me to dream of
One day having your kids
Love is so blind
It feels right when it's wrong

I can't believe I fell for your schemes
I'm smarter than that
So young and naive to believe that with me
You're a changed man
Foolish of me to compete
When you cheat with loose women
It took me some time but now I moved on

Cuz I realized I got
Me myself and I
That's all I got in the end
That's what I found out
And it ain't no need to cry
I took a vow that from now on
I'm gonna be my own best friend

Me myself and I
That's all I got in the end
That's what I found out
And it ain't no need to cry
I took a vow that from now on
I'm gonna be my own best friend

So controlling, you said that you love me
But you don't
Your family told me one day
I would see it on my own
Next thing I know I'm dealing
With your three kids in my home
Love is so blind
It feels right when it's wrong

Now that it's over
Stop calling me
Come pick up your clothes
Ain't no need to front like you're still with me
All your homies know
Even your very best friend
Tried to warn me on the low
It took me some time
But now I am strong

Because I realized I got
Me myself and I
That's all I got in the end
That's what I found out
And it ain't no need to cry
I took a vow that from now on
I'm gonna be my own best friend

Me myself and I
That's all I got in the end
That's what I found out
And it ain't no need to cry
I took a vow that from now on
I'm gonna be my own best friend

Me myself and I
I know that I will never disappoint myself
I must have cried a thousand times
All the ladies if you feel me
Help me sing it now
I can't regret all the times spent with you
Ya, you hurt me
But I learned a lot along the way
After all the rain
You'll see the sun come out again
I know that I will never disappoint myself

[Repeat to end]

Song Change

After the shoot yesterday I spoke with my artist about the shoot yesterday. She was not happy with her performance she knew that she could do better . After a long conversation we decided that it would be better to change the song choice. So we both decide to go with my 3rd song choice which is Beyonce - Me Myself and I. I decided to go with the song choice as I knew my artists can perform better and also the narrative is much clear and simple to understand.

Song Lyrics

Here are the song lyrics of my chosen song, I have annotated the lyrics for the music video. I have divided each verse and chorus for individual scenes and I have written what shots will be needed, costume and any props.

1st Shoot

Today was must first day of shooting . The shoot was for the close ups and mid shots of the artist. The shoot took place in my media classroom after school, were I set up a white back drop with lightting , a tripod and my camera. I was in charge of filming and the playing of the music. I really love the set up of the the video as the clips looked very professional. There were several re-shoots so that I could capture many angles and the performance of the artist . I was very please with the artists performance as is was relating to Andrew Goodwins theory of facial expressions and the visuals relating with lyrics . However, she was struggling to keep up with character which was an issue that I was very concerned with.

Shooting Location

As I have changed my song choice I had to change my shooting location. I have decide that I will filming my music video in Welling School ( my media classroom )  and My House .  The reason I have chose to film at school is because it will be easier as my school has all the filming equipment , which means that I will not need to carry equipment to and fro. Another reason I have chosen Welling School because there is more space to film my studio shots. My second filming location will be my house , as there are some scenes that will need to be filmed in an house.

Editing & changing , Poster & Digipak

After the feedback received from my poster and digipak, I decided to make changes and improve my digipak and poster.

For the poster I've changed the font to Andes which is the same font used on the digipak, I decided to use this font to keep a constant theme with the digipak and poster and also for my target audience to identify the font with the artist. Furthermore, I have changed the star rating to black and white as the original star rating was in gold which did not blend well with the poster. Lastly, I made the Instagram, Twitter and Facebook logos smaller as they were too big and I also added  "Available on iTunes " so that my target audience know where to purchase the artists music.

I believe that my poster works very well as it portrays the codes and conventions of the RnB genre. Also , I feel that the picture chosen for the poster is very professional and attracts my target audience.

The feedback received on my digipak was to change to the fourth the panel as the the image before was to close to the artist face, which I also agree. Decided to replace the image with an mid shot/close up image of the Jannelle blowing a kiss to go with the Laura Mulvey's Male Gaze theory as this theory is seen throughout the RnB genre. Overall, all the images work well together as there is a constant theme throughout. I also added a bonus visual CD as this is what makes the digipak stand out from others, Also on the CD I have added Janelle's signature too give a personal feel to the digipak and it also makes it unique. I am very please with this final digipak that I have created as it looks professional, it is eye catching and it works very well with the RnB genre.

2nd Digipak Develop

After the feedback i received from my class, I decided to use the images from the second shoot as there is a variety of different shots and I have also changed the costume as I did not like the costume used in the first digipak . In addition, I have made changes to CD's, there is the original digipak CD , which I have added the artist's name, song list and leaves to of with the background of the images. Furthermore, I decided that the second CD which is the bonus CD will be a visual album. This will have all the music videos of the songs on the album. To make it more appealing to my target audience, I have also added the artist's signature on the album for a more personal feel to the digipak .  Lastly , I will need to resize the fourth panel as the image has been stretched to much or I will change the image to make it equal with the other images.

Poster 2nd Draft

The is the first draft of my poster, I wanted to make sure that the poster and the album had the same throughout so the that the my target audience will be identify my artist easily. Furthermore, I also decided to change the font on the poster just to make a little different from the album. However, after speaking with Sinead she suggested that I should use the same font used on the album as it is more appealing and it portrays the RnB genre. Also , she suggested that I should change the the stars on the album rating as it does not blend well with the poster. From this feedback, I will be changing the artist font and will be using the Andes font which is also used on my digipak and I will change the star rating to white.

Poster Examples

Recently I have not been sure on how I want my poster too look like, so I decided to do some research RnB posters. These posters will help me when creating my poster  and give me ideas on what I can add to my poster and how I can make it attractive and  unique.

Digipak Typography

I have been looking at RnB artists albums and I have been analysing the typography used on the albums. I decided that the album name will be called "Janelle Scott" which is the artists name as a majority of RnB albums name are of the artist. From researching into RnB artist albums, I noticed that typography styles are very simplistic but have a funky style to them which has been used for decades. A a result of this, I will be using only the artist name and this will their global label.

After searching RnB albums typography. I went on www.dafont.com to have a look at the range of the fonts. There was six fonts which I liked but I was not sure which one to use, so i decided to do a questionnaire with my class and teachers. It was handed out to 17 people between the ages of 17-26. After the  questionnaire was done , I gathered the results in the form of a tally chart which was a much faster way to see which font was the most liked.

The results from the questionnaire, show that Lighthouse by Mans Greback was the most popular. However, I don't feel that this font suits my chosen music genre and the didfipak. I spoke to Sinead about the results from the questionnaire and she said that she really feel the fonts that I chose portray my chosen genre. After the conversation I decided to a look through the website again to find the right the font.

After looking at several fonts I decided to change the fonts above to "Andes", I really like this font as it has an 80's and modern feel to it. It also reminded me of Estelle's Album "Shine".

Poster 1st Drafts

Here are some drafts that I created for the album's poster. I tried different fonts from www.dafont.com , however im still not sure in what font I want to use on the poster. I think that i will use the same font that i used on the album on poster to have a consistent theme throughout the media products. I have decide to use the album cover as the poster image so that it will be easier for my target audience to identify  the artist.

Artist Name Change

I was not to sure on my artists name, from the feedback received . So I did some research on RnB artist names and I have decided that I will be changing my artists name to "Janelle Scott" as it sounds more of an RnB artist name than "Rebecca Iggy".
