Feedback on 1st Screening

These are the feedback sheets that I received from my class and teachers on my 1st screening. The feedback received was not as I was expecting as a majority of it was negative. The shots were to long which made the video less appealing . There was also not enough performance which is one of the main things that needs to be featured in the music video. Furthermore the shots were not in sync with music which made the shots look awful. This feedback has helped me see where I have gone wrong and things that I need to change in order for me to have a successful video. I need to seriously work harder and reshoot ASAP as time is not on my side and I need to stop leaving things to the last minute as I will not be able to achieve a good quality video. This feedback has been a real eye opener.

1st Screening / Music Video 1st draft

Today I screened my 1st draft of my music video to the class. The feedback I got was that the shots were too long , the footage and music were not sync, the narrative was not clear and not a range of different angle shots. However , there was some positive feedback , Mr Grimsley was very pleased with the different location shots . From the feedback given, I will be doing another reshoot as I feel that this draft is very weak as I know I could have done better. So I will doing a third shoot during the half term. I will also have to make a new narrative as the class was not able to understand what was going on in the video. Also when shooting again I will need to remember to film from different angles to make the video more interesting to my target audience. Overall, the feedback has been very helpful as I have seen what changes need to made for me have a successful video.

Editing

Today I started editing the footage for my first draft of my music video shoot that was done in my house and Welling School. I started by picking the footage I want to keep and deleting the ones that did not come out well. After this, I began to add the clips on to FinalCutPro to sequence that I have of the shots done in school. Most of the footage added was for the second stanza and chorus parts of the song, as I wanted to film Janelle in various locations.

Costume and Makeup

Below is the costume and makeup that I will be having the music video. I have decided that to have her makeup natural in the studio shots, as the song is a sad song I want her image to also reflect the emotions of the song.   In  the outside scene her make up will be smudge , to make her look as if she has been crying. Lastly, I have decided that my artist will have two make up styles one for the studio shooting and the other for outside. The studio shooting she will have straight hair to go with her makeup as she will be dressed glamorously . The second hair style will be beach waves , as she has been crying.

There will be three costumes in the music video. I have made sure that one of the outfits is very high class and glamorously to go with the codes and conventions of RnB music videos as a majority of artist are dressed in expensive clothing. I have decided that she will wear a large fur coat , with a short black club dress with black heels. The other two outfits , I decided that  will be casual as the artist will be outside and also due to the weather if she wore less revealing clothes she would get very cold. I also looked at some music videos which had a sad theme and many of the videos the artist wore simple clothing , to highlight the theme of them being sad.

Shooting Planning Draft

After I decided to change my song choice ,  I redone my shooting plan. I have made a plan on the days I am are free and times that I will be available for shooting.  I will be speaking with my artist to double check that she will be available on these days and times. In addition, I have also added dates for re- shooting so that I tell my artist to check if she will be free on those days for shooting. Lastly I have also noted down the equipment that I will be using, so I can book any equipment that I will need to use when filming.
